ABOUT ROCZNIK
ISSN 1896-4362 /print/
ISSN 2392-1552 /online/
"Rocznik Przekładoznawczy" is a peer-reviewed ranked academic journal focused on the theory, practice and teaching of translation. It is a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences between professional translators, for whom translation is primarily a commercial activity, and academics who concentrate on theoretical aspects of the field.
The structure of the journal is three-fold: the first part /"Papers and essays"/ consists of texts on the theory, practice and teaching of translation as well as review articles.
The second part /"Translations"/ includes translations of papers and essays on Translation Studies. This part is intended to offer our readers an insight into the most interesting achievements of Translation Studies world-wide as well as those classical or traditional concepts, considerations and debates that have not yet been translated into Polish.
The final part /"Varia"/ is open for publishing book reviews, reports, communications, notes, in memoriam, etc.
”Rocznik Przekładoznawczy” is a printed journal published by Wydawnictwo Naukowe of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and it is also available via the Academic Platform of Magazines. The Platform offers free and open access to all publications.
The originators of "Rocznik Przekładoznawczy" were two German Studies academics /Maciej Pławski and Lech Zieliński/. The journal was developed as the consequence of numerous long debates, the leading topic of which was the issue of undertaking well-planned strategic bottom-up activities aimed at truly anchoring the reflection on translation at the Faculty of Languages at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. The detailed idea of Rocznik was developed in 2005; this year the first volume was published. The title and structure (then two-fold) was suggested by Lech Zielinski. Professor Elżbieta Tabakowska, a reviewer of the volume, also had an impact on the final name of the journal. In 2006, representatives of English and Slavic Studies joined the editorial team (Ewa Kościałkowska-Okońska and Monika Krajewska). The collaboration of editors, representing two different language studies, on individual volumes was introduced as a principle, too.
Currently, representatives of four language studies, i.e., German, English, Slavic and Romance studies form the editorial team of "Rocznik Przekładoznawczy".
